[edit]Does having worked for a few years in the city qualify them as a Minneapolitan? Not really challenging, just wondering what the criteria are. Wahkeenah 10:34, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
I think anyone who lived there for some purpose other than being a student qualifies someone as a Minneapolitan. Bellczar 01:31, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
I reckon that makes me a Minneapolitan, even though I'm sure exactly how to pronounce it, never having heard the term spoken out loud. Wahkeenah 05:24, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
Or a former Minneapolitan. It's pronounced just like Neapolitan with min in front of it. Min-nee-uh-POL-i-tun.Bellczar 18:14, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Not "former" yet. Thanks for the explanation. I shudder to think what a resident of Indianapolis would be called. Oh, wait, I know: "Hoosier". :) Wahkeenah 20:48, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Map_excerpt_bridges.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Map_excerpt_bridges.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Bridge name
[edit]The 10th Avenue Bridge connects 10th Avenue SE with 19th Avenue S. A long time ago, I gather, it connected with Cedar Avenue to the south. But when I look at both Google maps and Mapquest, it is still labeled Cedar Avenue Bridge. Is there any documentation to support the name 10th Avenue Bridge?
- It is what everyone calls it. In the old days, it was called both the 10th Avenue Bridge and the Cedar Avenue Bridge, much as some call the Lake Street Bridge the Marshall Avenue Bridge. (Incidentally, the 3rd Avenue Bridge is the only bridge in Minneapolis that was ever officially named by city ordinance. The ordinance named it the St. Anthony Bridge, but no one calls it that.) The name Cedar Avenue Bridge is no longer used. The bridge closed soon after the adjacent I-35W bridge opened, and it was closed at least nine years, until about 1981. (Repairing the bridge was not a priority since there were so many bridges in that area.) Anyway, soon after the bridge reopened, Cedar Avenue was truncated at Washington Ave. and a hotel and municipal parking ramp were built where the avenue used to be. In 1984, the city built a bridge along 19th Avenue South over the unnamed highway that connects to the Washington Ave. Bridge (which has been known over the years as US 12, State Highway 122, and County Road 122, or simply as "New Washington"). As a result of this, almost everyone gets from Cedar to the bridge by way of 19th Avenue South and most people have forgotten that the bridge once connected to Cedar.
- Furthermore, the name "Cedar Avenue Bridge" is in widespread use to refer to the bridge over the Minnesota River on Minnesota 77/Cedar Ave.Bellczar 03:55, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Map excerpt bridges.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Map excerpt bridges.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:58, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Andersondaryl.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Andersondaryl.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Lougrantopening.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Lougrantopening.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Adi Braun, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Adi Braun provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Adi Braun, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Andersondaryl.jpg}
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Andersondaryl.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Troy Davis case
[edit]I totally agree with what you said in your e-mail. Many people have strong feelings in this case and that's fine, but it must be left out of wikipedia articles. The article is very biased. I've already gone to the NPOV board and someone should respond soon. In the meantime, I think the best solution is not delete what is already there but to add to the sections on the majority 11th Appeals Court decision, Supreme Court upcoming descision and the evidence presented at trial (ballistics mainly). Also, I'm looking through a source that has evidence the European Parliment descision was based less on the merits of the case and more on Europe's view of capital punishment. Most importantly, this is an ongoing case, and until the Supreme Court makes a final descision the article must be NPOV. JakeH07 (talk) 01:20, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Andersondaryl.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Andersondaryl.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pais (talk) 13:53, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Bellczar! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 6 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Hagar French 20060103.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Hagar French 20060103.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The file File:Northwestern Banks weatherball logo 1970s.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Map of Winnipeg 1913.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Map of Winnipeg 1913.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TheWikiToby (talk) 17:57, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
